Distance Learning Program
The mission of the University's online programs is to offer a high-quality and affordable education to adult students in a manner that is convenient. Adults bring a variety of experiences to the educational setting, and instructional methods should enhance and use these experiences. The faculty is trained to facilitate the adult learner.
Robert Morris University's cutting-edge distance learning programs use the Internet for online instruction. The online method allows for e-mail, interactive chat, audio and video streaming, threaded discussions, instructional connections to additional Web sites, and access to the electronic library, journals, and document sharing, among other things. Online courses require students to have access to a computer and an Internet provider as well as an e-mail account.
The faculty of Robert Morris University offers students the best of both worlds. Instructors include full-time faculty members as well as adjunct professors. The faculty members bring real-world experience and knowledge to the classroom as well as the theoretical background that is necessary for a well-rounded educational experience.
Programs of Study
By utilizing the Internet, students are able to participate in courses online at their convenience. This provides them with greater freedom to complete their course requirements and the flexibility to do so when their schedules permit. A Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree (B.S.B.A) majoring in accounting, management, or information systems may be completed in as little as four years. Students with transfer credits may finish in even less time.
The program currently requires that students also attend class at the Pittsburgh Campus. The class time is minimal, only 1 hour per week per class. Therefore, students in this program can attend college "full-time," qualify for the maximum amount of financial aid, and have their day completed at 1:40 p.m. each Saturday. The remainder of their class work is completed online, via the Internet. This program allows maximum convenience while still providing students with the opportunity to interact with their professor and classmates in person each week. They only attend classes forty weeks out of each calendar year, leaving them with twelve weeks of vacation.
Student Services Robert Morris University's distance students still have access to all of the student services available to the on-campus students. Such services include enrollment counseling, the Freedom Card functions, the RMC library, student financial services options, and financial aid counseling.
