The Southern New Hampshire University Distance Education program, formerly New Hampshire College, began in 1996 and now serves over 3,000 students annually from 24 countries and 47 of the United States. With computer technology, the program provides online learning rivaling the traditional classroom. Distance Education provides a flexible learning environment where you may interact with experts in your field of study while drawing on resources from around the globe.
The Distance Education Program uses both its website and traditional classroom tools. Respective faculty members determine the appropriate combination of textbooks, e-mail, file transfers and chat rooms. To participate, students need a computer with access to the Internet. A pentium-class PC, running Windows 95 or 98, with at least 16 megs of RAM and at least 30 megs free on your hard drive or a PowerPC Macintosh running 7.5 or higher is required. Netscape 4.5/4.6 and Internet Explorer 5.0 are the standards for Distance Education and can be obtained at no cost.
The individualized nature of the instruction is assured by the limited number of students in each course. At present time, our classes average 15 students.
SNHU provides students with a solid educational foundation and professional training through programs in the Divisions of Business, Liberal Arts, and Hospitality Administration. Degree programs available within the Division of Business include accounting, business administration, business studies, computer information systems, economics/finance, international business, management advisory services, marketing, retailing, sport management, and technical management. The Graduate School of Business offers programs leading to the Master of Science degree in accounting, business education, community economic development, computer information systems, finance, and international business and to the Master of Business Administration degree. The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in community economic development and the Doctor of Business Administration (D.B.A.) in international business began in September 1998. Graduate certificates may be earned in any of twelve areas of concentration in conjuction with or independent of a degree.
Faculty members must meet strict educational and background criteria and are considered experts in their fields. Students participating in distance education have the unique opportunity to study with the finest instructors throughout the world.
Applicants for undergraduate degrees must have graduated from high school or passed the GED test before entering. Admission to the Graduate School requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
The tuition for undergraduate distance education courses is $615 per course. Tuition for distance education graduate courses is $1245 per course. Other general expenses include textbooks, which may be ordered on line, and some courses require specific software packages. These fees are subject to change.
Students accepted for enrollment in a degree or certificate program through the University may be considered for several forms of institutional and federal financial aid. The College participates in the Federal Work-Study Program, the Federal Perkins Loan program, and the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant program and is an eligible institution under the Federal Stafford Student Loan program and the Federal Pell Grant program.
