Distance Learning Program
The distance learning unit is part of the Division of Extended Education, whose mission is to extend the resources of the University to better serve the educational needs of its communities. The University has more than 4,000 students enrolled in distance learning programs in all fifty states and more than sixty countries.
All distance learning courses have a Web site, and participants can interact with faculty and staff members via e-mail, telephone, and correspondence. Courses are conducted via live Internet, where students participate in a live, interactive educational environment, including video transmission of the lecture; via asynchronous Internet, where participants log in at their convenience to complete class assignments and engage in discussion groups with their peers; via television, where CSUDH broadcasts 24 hours a day on cable systems throughout southern California; and via correspondence.
CSU Dominguez Hills has more than 100 faculty members teaching distance learning courses. Most of these faculty members have doctoral degrees in their chosen fields. Faculty members are available to students via e-mail, telephone, and mail. Student services available at a distance include academic advising, technical support, online tutoring, and access to the library and bookstore.
The Center for Training and Development at CSUDH works closely with the business community to develop custom-designed training programs to help meet the demands of the fast-paced workplace of the new millennium. Programs are delivered via distance learning, on-site, and on the CSUDH campus.
Programs of Study
CSU Dominguez Hills currently offers eight degree and nine certificate programs via distance learning. There are no on-campus requirements for any CSUDH distance learning program. Programs include the following:
Master of Arts in Behavioral Science: Negotiation and Conflict Management. Master of Arts in the Humanities. Taught via correspondence, the degree offers an interdisciplinary approach to the disciplines of the humanities-history, literature, philosophy, music, and art-with emphasis on their interrelating effects and influences

Master of Business Administration. Master of Public Administration. Master of Science in Nursing and Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Taught by asynchronous Internet, the bachelor's completion program prepares graduates to function as leaders, managers, and resource people in a variety of health-care settings. The graduate program prepares professional nurses for advanced and specialized practice. Master of Science in Quality Assurance and Bachelor of Science in Quality Assurance. Taught via asynchronous Internet, the bachelor's program provides the academic environment and the requisite course of study to blend the basic sciences, technologies, management principles, quality concepts, and statistical tools needed to prepare professionals for careers in quality assurance and to serve working professionals seeking career enhancement. Quality Management Certificate of Completion, Quality Engineering Certificate of Completion, Quality Auditing Certificate of Completion, Reliability Engineering Certificate of Completion, and Software Quality Engineering Certificate of Completion. Taught via asynchronous Internet, the programs allow professionals to gain certification in specialized areas of quality and prepare for American Society for Quality exams. Assistive Technology Certificate. Taught by asynchronous Internet, the program prepares individuals to comply with state and federal laws that require that school personnel be prepared to offer a full range of assistive technology services to disabled people. Production and Inventory Control Certificate. Taught via asynchronous Internet, the program provides a broad education in the principles of production and inventory control. More than $30 million in financial aid is disbursed to CSUDH students each year.
