Distance Learning Program
Graduate certificates for professionals seeking advanced knowledge in science, engineering, management, and teacher education are available online through WebCampus.Stevens. Master's degrees and graduate certificates are offered online. A wide range of off-campus graduate degree programs in engineering, management, computer science, and mathematics, among other disciplines, are taught at corporate sites.
You can take online graduate courses or corporate training at home, on the job, even while traveling. If you're a professional and you cannot attend class at Stevens' Hoboken, New Jersey campus or at Stevens' off-campus locations, you now can go online with outstanding programs delivered by the same superior faculty who teach in conventional settings.
Stevens has been at the forefront of distance learning for a number of years, offering courses that exploit the benefits of interactive video, Internet, and other advanced instructional technologies. WebCampus.Stevens online graduate students use rich Web features such as threaded discussions, chat, bulletin boards, e-mail, file sharing, whiteboards, and work groups for in-depth online participation. Students also have online library privileges, with instant search and retrieval of important databases.
Distance learning graduate students access the entire range of Stevens' student services, which include faculty advising, ordering books and other materials, admission, registration, and applications for financial aid, among other services, via e-mail, telephone, and by post. Graduate students also have instant online access to the School's digital library. A CyberLibrarian is available via e-mail and telephone to guide students in the use of databases and other research tools and media. Seven days per week, 24-hour technical and other help desk support services are also available online. Stevens' Student Information System allows distance learners to access course schedules, grades, account statements, and other documents entirely online.
An impressive graduate faculty teaches courses at Stevens in conventional settings, providing superior instruction online and off-campus. WebCampus.Stevens faculty members are required to participate in teaching and learning colloquia, held periodically during each semester, in order to share their experiences and to demonstrate the capabilities of online teaching and learning. Net faculty are also trained in how to exploit the technological and pedagogical benefits of Web-based courseware applications
Programs of Study
Graduate students may now take Web-based courses that lead to graduate certificates in telecommunications management, wireless communications, technology management, project management, atmospheric and environmental science and engineering, elements of computer science, and technology applications in science education. Graduate certificate programs offer students the opportunity to focus on a specific area of study without having to complete a master's program. Credits earned toward a graduate certificate at Stevens may also be applied to a master's degree, should students wish to continue with their studies. In addition to offering graduate certificates, the wireless communications program also offers a master's degree.
Off campus, at corporate and other sites, graduate students who enroll as part of company-sponsored and other programs may enroll in a wide variety of other programs, some of which are delivered using interactive video. Employees at some of the nation's most progressive and prominent companies, including Lucent Technologies, AT&T, Verizon, and dozens of others, may take graduate certificate courses and master's degrees at corporate locations in a number of disciplines. These include computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, management, mechanical engineering, project management, technology management, and telecommunications management, among others.
WebCampus.Stevens also offers Professional e-Seminars, which are noncredit, week-long short courses in engineering, science, and management. These courses are open to all, and no special background is required.
Nearly all graduate courses are 3 credit courses. Depending upon the program, most graduate certificates are offered after students complete four courses. To earn a master's degree in engineering and science, students are required to complete ten courses. Students are required to complete ten courses for a master's degree in management.
