Distance Learning Program
The online Master of Arts in Education: Technology and Learning program provides the same high level of personal attention, support, and service that on-campus students receive at Alliant International University. The online program is primarily tailored to teachers and professionals, allowing them to progress in their field while maintaining busy schedules.
Faculty members provide feedback and support to students on a continual basis. Instructors utilize threaded discussions, audio and video clips, group projects, and an integration of Web-based resources to meet student learning needs. Alliant Online's student-faculty ratio is 15:1. Courses may require specific software programs and computer hardware components to complete course requirements.
Programs of Study
The Master of Arts in Education: Technology and Learning program is composed of ten courses (30 semester units) and may be completed in as little as fifteen months. Students may complete the courses conveniently from their homes, schools, or office computers. The frequency and duration of classes are the same as those of equivalent on-campus courses; the teaching methods and learning environment have been modified to make them effective for delivering the program at a distance. The method of delivery in many ways models appropriate usage of technology in education. Thus, the main objective of the program, "to provide students with the skills and understanding necessary to utilize technology to facilitate learning," is enhanced by the online delivery mode.
For the Master of Arts program, Alliant International University may accept up to 8 units of transfer credit from other accredited higher education institutions. Course work being considered for transfer must be equivalent to AIU course work for which it is being applied. Students are required to submit transcripts, course descriptions, and other documents for faculty review.
